FACILITATORS, REV. DAVE DIAMOND AND MADELINE MULKEY
SUNDAYS, September 8 - October 20
6:15-7:45pm • DFUMC Gathering Room
Hi! I'm Dave Diamond.
I’m retired, after 35 years serving in the Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church as a local pastor. My wife, Barb, and I moved to Decatur from Ohio just over a year ago to be closer to family. After retiring, I served as a hospice Grief Navigator for 10 years, working with individuals and facilitating short and long-term support groups. In both ministries a key focus was helping people face difficulties, loss and change, and experience growth.
I've been a Detroit Lions fan since 1962 (0 wins in 12 playoff appearances in 57 years!) Irrefutable proof sometimes one must truly persevere in prayer!!!
I've been attending Decatur First for a year now, and generally attend the 9:45am worship service. I have a passion for being the church in the world, and being the hands and feet of Christ, however needed. One of my favorite ways to serve at the church is through leading small groups interested in delving into the difficult questions about faith such as racial reconciliation, women in the church, and sharing faith in everyday life. Before moving to Decatur, I served as a missionary with Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries in Gatlinburg Tennessee and was a chaplain in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking and most recently, paddle boarding.
I was a special correspondent for the Religious News Service at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics.
