Volunteer for VBS

Rising kindergarten through 6th graders, as well as volunteers of all ages, are invited to Camp Firelight VBS from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7, 9am to noon.

Brew Crew

The Brew Crew is the easiest and best smelling volunteer opportunity on this list - we make the Sunday morning coffee! You can serve while you are already here for church, and you can earn your own red "You're Good/Do Good" volunteer shirt! For more information email JR McCall at jrmccall@decaturfirst.org or click below to sign up for a volunteer shift.

Serve at Cafe Decatur

Someone else is cooking dinner, but we could use a few folks to help with setting up, serving, and cleaning up at Cafe Decatur on Wednesday's this fall. This is a fun way to serve and your dinner that night is on the house. For more information, contact Lydia Rodriguez at lrodriguez@decaturfirst.org or 404-378-4541.

Cook for the Meal Train

If you enjoy cooking, or know how to order take-out, you can be a part of the Decatur First meal train ministry! Most volunteers prepare a meal just 4 or 5 times a year, so it's not a huge commitment. Contact Blair at bsetnor@decaturfirst.org to be added to the meal train volunteer list.

Join the Prayer Team

Each Monday a crew of dedicated folks receive an email from Pastor Laura with the prayer needs of our congregation. More prayers are always welcome! There are no in-person or even virtual commitments - everyone prays on their own time. If you'd like to be a part of this group, contact Rev. Laura Rappold- lrappold@decaturfirst.org

Pew Pad Puller

Each Sunday after 11am worship volunteers go pew-by-pew retrieving the worship attendance forms so that first thing Monday morning the pastors and staff can follow up with visitors. This is an easy job that only takes about 20 minutes, and all ages can do it. If you’d like to get involved, email jyates@decaturfirst.org.

Join the Welcome Team

Whether you are new to the church or have been here for years, you can be the one who welcomes and shares the love of God with someone who needs it! Greeters work 20 - 30 minute shifts on a rotating basis, either on Sunday mornings or for one time events like concerts and funerals. For more information contact JR McCall- jrmccall@decaturfirst.org

Hospice Sewing Project

Hospice Sewing Project (formerly cancer pad sewing) is a longtime mission of Decatur First's United Methodist Women. Volunteers meet monthly on Mondays and Tuesdays to set up and sew pads for cancer patients through Our Lady of Perpetual Help. New volunteers are always welcome! Contact Marion Dearing, dearjam@bellsouth.net or Glenda Triemer, gtriemer@bellsouth.net with questions.

Clean sheets are also needed to continue this mission, (no pillowcases, no flannel, no jersey) and donations can be brought to the church and dropped off in gym lobby, in the “Donation Station.”

Become a Sunday morning A/V Volunteer

The A/V team is in need of a couple of volunteers to run the sound and screens Sunday mornings during the 11am service. No experience needed, only interest! Contact aashe@decaturfirst.org to volunteer!

Become a Scripture Reader

It’s beautiful to have many different voices leading in worship on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in reading scripture during 9am or 11am worship, sign up below! Contact Catherine Wilson (cwilson@decaturfirst.org) for more info.
