Rev. Dave Diamond
Retired Pastor in Residence
MDiv, Grief Navigator, retired elder in The United Methodist Church
As a United Methodist pastor, Rev. Dave Diamond served people in churches of the Detroit Annual Conference, Michigan, for 33 years. As a pastor he walked with people both during and after life-changing losses. After retiring in 2006, Dave worked as a Grief Navigator with Fairhope Hospice, Lancaster, Ohio for 10 years. In this role he focused completely on joining with people individually and in grief support groups as they struggled to face and grow through one or more of these losses.
Rev. Dave leads two grief support groups. If you have questions or would like to discuss which support group might be best for you, email Rev. Dave, RevDaveDiamond@gmail.com.
Come and Go Grief Support Group (Tuesdays 10 - 11:30am, Room 304) is a "come and go" group, there is no sign up or commitment to a number of sessions. Just show up. People drop in and out based on their schedule and needs. This is a great beginning point for people in the early weeks and months of grieving. It's also a great touch point for those occasions when grief returns with fresh power.
Wednesday Short Term Grief Support Group (Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm TBD start date) is 8 sessions, with advance registration and a participants handbook. Each session consists of exploring a critical aspect of grieving and learning through sharing our experiences. The Christ-centered materials we use are published by iCare and focus on your spiritual, physical and emotional needs after life-changing loss. This is an opportunity to gain the "big picture" of grieving and to grow in a caring, understanding fellowship.
