Shinmyung Kim

Shinmyung Kim is an aspiring theologian, musician, and Methodist minister from South Korea. She obtained both her Bachelor’s degree in Theology and her Master’s degree in Music before coming to the U.S. to pursue her M.Div at Candler. Her favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom and His righteousness,” which her family instilled in her from an early age. This scripture is also what motivated her to come to Candler to study theology. She enjoys playing the flute and singing and loves children very much; she is even confident that she can become friends with all the kids in the world! These various passions led her to serve as a youth minister for four years, to volunteer as a flute instructor for children, and to devote her time as a member of both the Chancel Choir of DFUMC and the Candler Singers Choir.
